My wife took this picture years ago, there’s just something about it that captures that feeling of pride in our country that you can’t escape. This majestic bird is our symbol and there’s a good reason for it. We have a nest near us and enjoy watching the parents every year raise their young. It’s so good to have them as neighbors.

John Arthur Olson Born and raised in Rochester Minnesota, the land of 10 Zillion Billion Mosquitoes. I have lived almost all of my life in Minnesota, with the exception of a short stay in Iowa, the land of flat but interesting places and winter ice storms. I love to take pictures and try to capture an expression or a feeling in an animal or a place. As you look over my work, I hope you’ll get a sense of what I felt when I took the picture.
